Stephen Stokley Obituary

Stephen Bennett Stokely, age 68, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on December 23, 2017.  He was born on September 10, 1949, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to parents, Marion and Bennett Stokely.  He grew up in Louisiana and Texas as part of a family with a career in the petroleum industry.  Stephen graduated from high school with honors from Robert E. Lee in Midland, Texas. He was an Eagle Scout and served two years in the Army National Guard Reserves.

Stephen earned three degrees from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He earned a CPA certificate and was a partner in B.B. Watkins CPA firm.  He also did accounting consulting for Stokely, Anderson and Associates and Resources Connection, Inc. before retiring in 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Bennett Stokely and numerous aunts and uncles.  Left to treasure Stephen’s memory are his lifelong companion, Connie Scarpelli and her brother, Ralph Arnett; his sister Carolyn Hooper; nieces Melissa Haeck (Vally Haeck), Rachel Colvin (Baker Jones) and Laura Hooper (Bart Slaughter); cousins Charlotte and Ted Windecker, Forrest Windecker, (Erin Sanders); Aunt Vi Bica Ross, and numerous cousins. Stephen is also survived by Debbie (Richard) Sepolio, Cathy (Arthur) Guice, Glendal (Cathy) Bean and a host of family and friends from Houston and Georgetown.

A memorial service will be held for Stephen on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Froberg at Oak Park Chapel in Alvin, Texas, with Pastor Brad Gardner officiating.
