Leslie A. Pugh Jr., age 79 of Alvin, TX passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 peacefully at home. He was born on April 5, 1939 in Dallas, TX. He worked at the Port of Houston from the time he graduated from Alvin High School until he retired, servicing on the Board of Directors at the Port of Houston Credit Union.
In Alvin, he served on the Electrical Board and was involved in Meals on Wheels. He and his wife Donna worked tirelessly several months a year decorating & hosting what was well known as the “Christmas House”; built over 100 years ago by his grandfather and where 3 generations of Pughs raised their families. A line formed before dark 7 days a week, of people driving & stopping by to see the many animated characters & decorations. He and Donna also volunteered for Christmas of Old, helping to facilitate many of the decorations we enjoy today. Les was also very active and involved in preserving & sharing the history of Alvin, being involved with the Alvin Museum Society and simply by knowing & teaching us who were related to whom and who owned what houses in Alvin.
He is survived by his daughter: Tonia & Michael Washburn, sons: Randy & Tami Pugh and Kelly & Patricia Pugh. His grandchildren: Brandy Kay Pugh, Nicole & Ryan Christopher, Shawn Pugh & Janie Trevizo, Jessy Pugh, Tabitha & Anthony Washburn and Cody Walker. Great grandchildren: Gracelyn Christopher, Ellie Trevizo, Leila & Dominc Vallecio and Isaac Walker. Plus too many BEST FRIENDS to mention
A Memorial Service will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday May 12, 2018 at Oak Park Funeral Home located at 300 Oak Park Drive, Alvin, TX. A gathering will follow at the Alvin Senior Citizens Center located on Sealy Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church and/or Alvin Meals on Wheels on behalf of Les Pugh.
