Margaret Rawlings, age 90 of Iowa Colony, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2017. She came into this world on August 27, 1926 in Rusk, Texas to parents, William Freddie Stuckey and Buna Elizabeth Crow. Margaret married Harold E. Rawlings on December 23, 1956. Margaret moved to Alvin in the 50’s and attended Alvin Community College, where she received an Associates Degree in Arts. She also babysat for the Farris Family prior to marriage.
Margaret loved her family unconditionally. She was an avid Houston Astros fan. She also enjoyed watching birds and squirrels at her bird feeder as well as watching game shows on television. She had been a member of the Home Maker’s Club of Alvin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Rawlings, whom went to be with the Lord on September 16, 1993; and her parents, William and Buna Stuckey; and siblings Cora Lee Stuckey, James Stuckey, Billie Stuckey, Lorraine Ragsdale, Roy Stuckey and Starkey Stuckey.
Margaret is survived by her children: Barbara Hobbs of Houston, Kathy Rawlings of Rosharon, David Rawlings of Rosharon, and Susan Ballard of Alvin; sister, Marriam Calhoun; grandchildren: Kat Morrison, April Mitchell, Melissa Hager, John Mitchell, Jr., Chloe Ballard, Andrew Ballard; great grandchildren: Jayme Morrison, Kenneth Hager, Jr., Loreley Hager, Kaitlyn Hager, Jayce Mitchell, Jyax Mitchell, and Jerzy Mitchell; and nephews: John Rawlings and Floyd Rawlings; great nephew Christopher Rawlings; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Park Chapel with Pastor Nathan Quinn officiating. Interment will follow to Confederate Cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family include: Floyd Rawlings, Kenny Hargrove, Harrison Hargrove, Michael Mitchell, Bryan Sullivan, and Travis Stuckey. Honorary Pallbearers include: John Rawlings, Earl Wayne Stuckey, Brett Whitcomb, and Freddie Stuckey.
