Reynaldo (Rey) Villarreal, 80, passed away on May 11, 2018. Rey was born on January 6, 1938 in Stuart Place, La Feria, Texas to Rafael and Eufemia Villarreal. He married his lifelong partner of almost 60 years, Estela Capetillo, on October 3, 1958 in Dillon, South Carolina.
Rey was a gentle and tenderhearted man that cherished and adored his beautiful wife and the family that they made together. Music brought happiness to his heart whether it was listening to it, playing his accordion or dancing, especially with his precious Estela. He was a sports fanatic and enjoyed watching games on television. He was also an avid gardener and wood worker and his tender care and attention to detail was shown through these. Those that knew him could tell you that his greatest time spent was with his grandchildren, and he especially loved taking them fishing.
Rey was preceded in death by his wife Estela on April 25, 2018, parents, Rafael and Eufemia Villarreal; and his siblings: Antonia Lopez, Concepcion Almanza, and Alfredo Villarreal.
He is survived by his children: Reynaldo Villarreal, Jr. and wife DebraLynn, Betty Jane V. Fretwell and husband Edward, Blanca Walsh and husband Robert; his siblings: Raquel, Velma, Gilberto and Raul Villarreal; his grandchildren: Marisa L. Fretwell, Joshua Rey Fretwell, Reynaldo Villarreal III, Ada Elena Winkles and husband Jeffery, A.R. Villarreal, Rigoberto Villarreal, Hannah Ortiz, Emory Ortiz; and his only great grandchild, Athena Winkles.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Park Chapel with Pastor Welby Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
