Edward Wayne Oliver, 66, of Alvin passed away on April 17, 2015 in Houston. Wayne was born on June 20, 1948 in Alvin to parents Tommy and Hattie (English) Oliver. He married Brenda Kettler in 1967 at First Baptist Church in Alvin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work and gardening. He also spent a great time tinkering in his shop. Wayne worked for Houston Lighting and Power (later Center Point Energy) for forty-five years. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Tommy Oliver and Hattie Oliver, mother in law Mary Kettler, son Kevin Oliver, daughter Debora Oliver, brothers: Kenneth and Dennis Oliver and grandson Corey Oliver. He is survived by his wife Brenda Oliver of Alvin; son Wayne Oliver Jr. and wife Renee, daughter Shellie Goin and husband Greg; sisters: Paulette Verm and husband, LaDell Verm and husband; grandchildren: John, Abby and Laura Goin, Ashley and Kobie Oliver, Tristin Oliver, Evan and Nathan Flores; great granddaughter Kinsie; father in law Carl Kettler; and numerous other family members and friends. Pastor Howard Daniel of South Park Baptist Church comforted the family through his words to them and in prayer. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
