Janie Maldonado Garza, 92, of Alvin passed away on October 22, 2015. She was born on March 8, 1923 in Mexico to parents, Guillermo Maldonado and Bruna Reyes. Janie married Clemente Garza, Sr. on June 21, 1948 in Rosenberg. Janie and her husband moved from the Rosenberg area to Alvin 68 years ago. She was an active member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Janie was a part of the Guadalupanas and taught Catechism. She served on the Board of Directors of the Alvin Senior Citizens. Janie was a strong and compassionate woman, and she loved spending time with her four grandchildren.
Janie is preceded in death by her husband, Clemente Garza, Sr.; son, John Anthony Garza; and her parents, Guillermo and Bruna Maldonado.
She is survived by her children: Clemente Garza, Jr. and wife Maryln of Alvin, Alice Chlamon and husband David of Alvin, Rudy Garza and wife Vickie of Kemp, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Jennifer, John, Amara, Adam; and great grandchildren: Hunter, John Jr., Marissa, Hayden, Tyler, Henleigh, Ryan, Kelsie, and Riley.
A memorial service will be held on November 2, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel. Memorials may be made in her name to the Senior Citizens Center or Meals on Wheels.
