R.E. Davenport, 81, of Alvin passed away on September 23, 2015. R.E. was born to parents Oscar and Gertrude Beasley on December 23, 1933 in Weches, Texas. He married the love of his life Yvonne Kulhanek in Danbury on April 11, 1953 and was happily married for sixty plus years. In his early years, he served in the Navy as a First Class Petty Officer and traveled to many places around the world. He worked at Sunbeam in Pensacola, Florida and then as Lieutenant Guard at Monsanto. When he retired, he enjoyed playing dominoes and deer hunting with his family. He especially had a passion for his grand-children and would fervently pray and impress upon them the importance of loving Jesus and their families. Jared and Keith want you to know Papa that they will be learning to play dominoes and can’t wait to beat you one day! R.E. was preceded in death by his parents; many family and friends. He is survived by his wife Yvonne; children: Cynthia Geoghagan and husband William; David Davenport and wife Frances; and Cherie Wiley and husband Shannon; grandchildren: David Geoghagan and wife Amy; Tim Mullins; Deana Remington and husband Keith; and Derek Wiley; great grandchildren: Bailey, Matthew and Ryan Geoghagan; and Jared and Keithy Remington; adoptive grandchildren: Heather, Kevin, Holly, Amber, Austin, and Shauna; family members and many domino playing friends.
Visitation will be from on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Froberg Chapel. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Froberg Chapel with Pastor John Gantt officiating. Interment will be at Danbury Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Geoghagan, Derek Wiley, Earl Humbird, Austin Wilson, Keith Remington, and Cody Gilmore.
