Welcome to the memorial page for

Thomas Mitchell Elkin

September 10, 1930 ~ April 10, 2015 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Thomas Mitchell Elkin, 84, of Alvin passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Alvin, Texas to parents, William Elkin and Virgie Ercanbrack on September 10, 1930 and was the last surviving sibling of nine children. Mr. Elkin leaves his wife, Char Elkin; nephews and nieces, Glenn, Kelly, Tommy, Doug, Kelvin and Gene Dunnam, Dwight Elkin, Clay Jones, LaVerne Tankersley, Joan Schultz, Ginger Hankamer, Kristy Brown, and Joyce Jones.   Dedication to family was extremely important in his daily life.  In his early years, Tom joined the army and served during the Korean War 1952-1960.   His skills with people and attention to detail made him successful with his employment and he retired from Capitol Senate Computers where he worked with his nephew Phil Meyer.  Tom was also a proud member of the American Legion. After retirement Tom spent most of his time tending to his garden and orchards.  Being a giving man who never met a stranger, he often delivered bushels of fruit he hand- picked from the orchard to nearby neighbors and friends. Tom married his wife Char at the age of 69.  They were happily married for 15 years after a serendipitous meeting at Ball High School’s 50th school reunion.  He took great pride in being a husband and their love for each other was recognizable.  Tom Elkin was devoted to his faith and his church.  He was saved as a young man in his 30’s, was married later in life in his 60’s, and will now be remembered among the same congregation and family on his passing at Heights Baptist Church. Tom’s funeral service will be held at the church April 15th and 10 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kidz Harbor in Liverpool, Tx.
